Jim came to Quinlivan and Hughes directly from law school in 2002. Prior to that time he worked as a technical writer for an aviation software company. Since 2002 his practice has focused on defending personal injury, wrongful death and general insurance defense claims. In the professional liability area his clients frequently include physicians, nurses, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He defends these providers from any manner of claims, including malpractice, general negligence, board and licensing investigations and privacy violations. Jim is a member of the firm’s malpractice group and active in the defense bar, serving as the co-chair of the Minnesota Defense Lawyer’s Association Long Term Care Committee and a member of the health care law committee.

The other side of Jim’s practice is defending all manner of negligence claims. Whether it is wrongful death, premises liability, auto, or construction, he has consistently worked to deliver excellent legal representation to his clients over the last 14 years. Jim is a member of the firm’s insurance defense practice group and frequently presents to his clients on developing areas of Minnesota law.
