A Closer Look

Hello, I’m Jessie. My world revolves around my delightful daughters Macie and Abbie. Our favorite pastime is undoubtedly spending quality time with our loved ones, especially outdoors and through sports, where we can create lasting memories and strengthen our bond. One invaluable piece of advice that has guided me through life is the understanding that thorough preparation is irreplaceable in any endeavor, a lesson passed along to me by a past mentor. On a lighter note, a fun fact about me is my insatiable wanderlust. I’ve been fortunate to explore the vast landscapes of the majority of the United States and have ventured to over 22 countries, including immersive experiences such as studying abroad in Germany during high school and Norway during law school. Traveling enriches my soul and broadens my perspective in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Biography
Born and raised amidst the serene landscapes of central Minnesota, I found my way back to my roots following the completion of my Juris Doctorate. My journey in the field of law commenced with a pivotal role as a judicial clerk for the esteemed Honorable Sally Robertson in Todd and Wadena Counties immediately after graduating from law school. Since January 2008, I've proudly served the legal communities of St. Cloud and Long Prairie through private practice. My passion for the law traces back to my formative years, ignited during junior high when I was in the forefront of a petition to the school board under Title IX, advocating for the inclusion of women's gymnastics as a sport in my high school. Moreover, my grandmother's prophecy, humorously stating I would become a lawyer due to my penchant for argumentation, proved to be somewhat prophetic.
Over my 18-year career as a licensed attorney, I've garnered recognition from my peers for my leadership, professionalism, adept skills, and fervent advocacy. The Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association honored me with the esteemed 2012 Deb Oberlander Award, and I was privileged to be named a Super Lawyer Rising Star in both 2020 and 2021. My vast leadership roles on professional committees and boards over the years also led to my selection as the Minnesota Women Lawyers’ state-wide representative to the MSBA Board of Governors for which I am currently serving my fifth year. The Board of Governors, comprised of 20 members across the state, serves as the board of directors of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
My professional journey has endowed me with a distinctive blend of experience across various facets of civil and criminal law, including representation on both the plaintiff and defense sides. This diverse background equips me with a multifaceted perspective, enabling me to evaluate cases from multiple angles and bolstering my trial aptness significantly. Presently, my focus is dedicated to handling cases in insurance defense, professional liability, personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death, long-term care, and medical malpractice, striving always to deliver justice and support to my clients in their time of need.
